Happy
Groundhog Day, Friends of the Forest!
Did
you know Groundhog Day actually stems from an ancient Celtic festival of
Imboloc, the Spring Solstice?
I’ve
been feeling in the spirit of the season, we had a squirrel storytime at the
Library the other day
and
I’ve been growing new crops! Here are some fun ways you can celebrate the
first stirrings of spring:
Plant
a garden
Feed
the small critters (not just groundhogs, squirrels, chipmunks, guinea pigs,
hamsters and even cats!)
Make
a vision board of your goals for the new year.
Dress
up a doll and leave it out overnight to be blessed by St. Brigid.
Play
“Toss the Groundhog” a game where you throw stuffed animals onto a target for
points.
Get
together with friends and have fun!
Go
for a hike…
