"Each time this year in our hometown,
the county fair comes along..."
The Beach Boys-County Fair
"I'm really into the boys that work there, the feeling you get when your ticket they tear..."
Rasputina-State Fair
The Maryland State Fair is back in town after a year off, and it really went off this weekend!
The first ride we went on was the totally spookadelic Haunted House.
Of course at every fair you get your usual barkers and hawkers trying to get you to play games. We were listening to this early Beach Boys classic about a guy trying to win his girl a prize, which features their abusive dad as the voice of the game barker!
Check out these rockin' fantasy murals plastered on the sides of the Magic Maze...
It was a great gloomy day at the fair, I couldn't help but playing Rasputina's State Fair while we were there, as per tradition. Oh, we had such a wonderful time riding the rides and checking out all the animals and the crafts. There was some wonderful work on display, so be sure to check it out.
"Jam up and jelly tight. My, my, my, my, my my you're out of sight!"
Tommy Roe - Jam Up & Jelly Tight
The only thing we missed was the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show, which we saw the stage of on the way out. Oh, that wood have been quite a sight to see! Luckily, I noticed a lumber company in Timonium on the way to the fair, so maybe I can camp out there sometime and catch a real man of the forest! That and Blue Oyster Cult playing next weekend at the Fair!
"Memories, they can't be bought. Can't be won at carnivals for free. Well, it took me all these years, to get these souvenirs..."
John Prine-Souvenirs
