Top 10 Tips for Being your Forest Best!

Living life at your forest best is to live in harmony with nature, with reverence for the enviornment around you in a way that makes you feel happy.  This blog would not have made it this far if I hadn't held myself to strict standards over the past fourteen years.  Here is a sneak peak at my own personal commandments, the values I strive towards every day.  You too can live your forest best life by following these guidelines.  Read on for some inspiring ideas...

  1. Always Look Your Forest Best!

Looking your forest best means always presenting the best possible version of yourself with forest flair!  Dress in forest fashion with earthy tones of color, from green to brown.  Seek fabric with patterns of forest animals, trees, leaves, mushrooms, flowers, or acorns.  Wear gold and emerald jewelry.  Go for the natural look.  Try a different hairstyle every day, try this tutorial for the pinecone bun.

  1. Eat Your Greens.

Eat a healthy and balanced diet full of fresh fruits and vegetables! Strive to stick to a strict diet to save money and stay healthy. A light breakfast of peanut butter toast and cinnamon applesauce with coffee provides protein and fiber for the morning.  Lunch is a cup of mushroom soup or vegetable broth.  Drink green tea throughout the day.  A vegetable main course with cheese makes a wonderful dinner, such as this recipe for mushroom and herb enchiladas.

  1. Be the Best Around.

Work hard every day, do your absolute best.  Set goals constantly and take steps towards them daily.  Work harder than a homesteader in the wild west in your career and home life.  Always do a top-notch quality job and you will go far...

  1. Make Your Nest the Best.

Keep your home perfectly clean and always organized.  Have a place for everything and everything in its place.  Develop a daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedule.  Getting into the habit of constantly cleaning will make everything so much easier.  To make the tasks easier, lean towards minimalism.  Wake up to a clean home every day. Check out this old article on charming your chores.

  1. Be a Forest Friend.

Be everyone’s shining star from afar!  Ensure peace for your friends and family by helping them out whenever you can.  Have courage and be kind.  Be on your best behavior at all times.  Never complain or explain.  Remember the golden rule: treat others how you wish to be treated.  Worry not for yourself.

  1. Take the Trail Less Travelled.

Try something new every day.  Walk down a different street on the way to work and you might just discover something interesting.  You never know what can happen when you go for a walk!  Visit a new-to-you park.  Do at least on wildly different thing each day, practice being open to the possibilities of anything and everything.

  1. Live Deliberately.

To live deliberately means to always make conscious choices, to do the right thing instead of the easy one.  You must take a good, hard look at your life and the decisions you make.  Every action you take does have an impact on the world around you. It is time to own up to that.  Choose to consume only what you truly need.  Leave less of an impact on your environment.  Be honest with yourself.  It is only you who can change the world.

  1. Self Sufficiency is Priority #1.

Learn how to farm, cook, craft, build, repair and fix anything you need.  You must be able to stand your ground, survive any situation.  Spend your life acquiring skills that will serve you well in any scenario, from being stranded in the wilderness to thriving in an urban jungle.

  1. Fight for the Forest!

Do whatever you can to support and nurture the environment.  Invest in green companies, donate to conservation efforts, and clean up when you see plastic trash on plant life.  For a great bank account that gives back to the trees, check out Aspiration.
