Fun Things to Do in the Forest

These days, its all about slowing down and enjoying life's simple pleasures.  With spring in full bloom and summer just around the corner, here are our favorite ideas for fun things to do:

Pack your bags and hike to a campsite to stay for three days.  Forage for food, fish and hunt.  Make crafts out of the moss, acorns, pine cones and needles you find.  Craft a makeshift shelter.

Instead of binge-watching, try bird-watching!  Take photos of the local birds you see, then identify them by looking up their information on the internet!

Collect herbs and press them in big, heavy books.  When they are flat and dry, take them out and affix onto cardstock,  Write down their basic properties on the card and laminate.  You can use this deck for studying, divination, and more!

Know forty ways to fashion a pen and paper from items in the wild.  For example, use a piece of bark or a brown leaf as paper, with the pen being a springy twig with green sap "ink".

Restock local Little Free Libraries with curated collections.  For the local park, you could put nature guides, maps, and binoculars.  Near a school, a selection of children's books.  Put watercolors, canvas, and books on great artists by the museum...

Wrap beautiful old books in silk ribbons and go to the local cafe for a cup of matcha tea and fancy cookies to eat while you read in the park.

Hike to the river with a few beers or sodas and a good friend.  Drink and write poems, rolling them up into the green glass bottles to cast in the river for people to find...

Walk through a meadow in spring, envisioning flowers and grass sprouting under your every footstep, filling the earth with healing energy...

Feed the squirrels.  A mixture of unsalted nuts and acorns works best.  Set up on a park bench, start tossing and watch them go wild!

Learn to play greensleeves on an old violin that your ex-lover left behind...

Invite friends over for a tarot & tea leaf salon.  Have tea and cakes, demonstrate palm and tarot readings, draft everyone's natal charts.

Snuggle up with someone special at the park at sunset, sharing a bottle of something hot.
