Visiting the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival was how Emily and I spent the final day of our weekend in her woods. Located in the heart of Bigfoot country West Newton, Pennsylvania this Faire is a wonderful place to hang out...
We drove to the meadow blasting 60's psychedelic medieval music. Drank ciders and helped Emily lace her corset while getting down on the grass, then we made our grand entrance. I wore bell bottom jeans with green rainbows painted on, a brown bell sleeve shirt, brown and green ribbons in my hair. Emily had a rococo inspired look with lots of embroidery, floral, swans and a French ceramic flask.
Hooray for Hazel, she put me down,
Hooray for Hazel she's made me her clown
We wandered down a trail of laundry to the Washer Wench's Stage where we saw a hilarious show. One of the wenches, Hazel got a guy from the audience. After the show we wandered over to play Hooray for Hazel by Tommy Roe for her. "Have you ever heard this song?" I asked. "No, is this from the 60's?" she asked. "Yeah!" I said. She leaned closer and let me play it into her microphone to broadcast as the crowd cleared out. It was awesome!
Then, my inner squirrel girl smelled cinnamon and nuts in the air and we just had to get some pecans. It's my goal to try every nut in the world, including the elusive Coco de Mer...
The bells were ringing, voices were singing and we were dreaming!
