The Wonderful Woodland Week

Life in my neck of the woods has been pretty swell this week.  We checked out the Peter Rabbit film and was surprised how good it was!  I had expected it to be mere children's movie, but it was actually done well.  The picture was almost reminiscent of Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr. Fox...

I've always loved Beatrix Potter and was inspired to read Brier-Patch Philosophy.  It's no wonder the cover appealed to me, as I own a rare copy of William J. Long's School of the Woods.  I also found in my home library: The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin and The Peter Rabbit Natural Foods Cookbook.  We also watched Peter Rabbit 2 and Miss Potter.

In other news, Jamie is learning how to be more of a Lumberjack, he spent all day hauling truckloads of wood at work!

Penny and Felix are doing well and settling into their new routine.  I took them for a walk in the park in their new stroller the other day.

Came home from work on Friday to find a package from my grandparents.  They sent shells from the beach in California we used to go to often, and an owl sculpture made of the shells.  Now that I live near the Chesapeake Bay, I need to embrace the nautical style that is so popular out here!

We spent Saturday at Trifecta Music Festival and had a great time seeing Bastards of Reality, Better Off Dead, Petty Coat Junction, Kashmir, Almost Queen and Jimmy's Chicken Shack.  Everyone was walking around saying it was just like Woodstock.  (It wasn't)  Now, these mainstream 60s and 70s cover bands are great, but I'd love to see a Festival with cover bands of The Seeds, The Animals, The Grass Roots...
